The DETS curriculum includes K-12 units with lessons that are designed to enhance the understanding and appreciation of the problems of diabetes in Indigenous communities in the US.

A circular theme is used throughout to illustrate the contextual content of Native culture and provides a meaningful approach for students of all cultural backgrounds. Theme: Health is Life in the Balance

The First Nations Education Steering Committee's In Our Own Words curriculum contains a unit called Gifts from the Earth, which includes lessons on growing, measuring and preparing food. Unit 6 - The Power of Stories also has food and nutrition content.
