FOOD SKILLS (Ages 10-14)

Children learn best about food and nutrition through doing. Hands-on experiences with food are a perfect way of introducing them to the principles in Canada's Food Guide: eating more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, cooking and enjoying food with others.

Developing Food Skills

These practical lessons can be done in a kitchen or in a classroom with minimal equipment to build culinary literacy and develop skills including knife handling. See Food Safety & Equipment List and follow the safety and hygeine guidelines.
